Here are a few sample layouts to give you an idea of the number of soakers you can get from different amounts of fleece.

5 larges and a small on a yard of 58" wide fleece.
2 larges and a small on 1/2 yd of 58" wide fleece.
7 mediums on a yard of 58" wide fleece.
4 mediums on 2/3 yd of 58" wide fleece.
3 mediums on 1/2 yd of 58" wide fleece.

ReplyDeleteI think these diagrams are GREAT!Would you let me use them in my blog translated into Spanish?I'd be crediting you and your blog, of course. There's nothing like these in Spanish.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I forgot to say my blog is a non-profit about diaper sewing, I don´t sell anything. www.flordejara.wordpress.com
Sure! I'm glad they are helpful.
ReplyDeleteThanks :D
ReplyDeleteI had to be careful but I just got 2 larges, 3 mediums, and 2 smalls from a yard of fleece. (Doesn't include the extra wetzone layers). I did have a few extra strips so I think it can be done with a little room for error.
ReplyDeleteAlso, THANKS for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteI made my first fleece soaker today using some fleece I had lying around.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I am going to the store to pick up some more fleece (and wool sweaters from a consignment store, if I can find some). This is such a great resource! Thanks.
I've been cloth diapering for years, but I've never used soakers before. Do you like using fleece or wool better? Do you have a preference?
They both have their pros and cons. I like the ease of throwing a fleece soaker into the washing machine. I like the stretch and fit of a wool soaker, though. I have both, and I like both for different reasons. I leave fleece soakers/longies/shorties for my Mom because she has been known to throw everything into the washing machine.
ReplyDeleteWould there be any other side effects to throwing wool soakers in the wash with other laundry except for shrinkage?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of pre shrinking the wool before I make the wool soaker so that it can go in the washing machine with my normal clothes cos I dont wash those for as long and with so much agitation as i do my nappies.I wont use fabric softener either.
I never really washed my wool in the washing machine, so I don’t have a good answer for you. I only know it causes shrinking and pilling.
