Altering the pattern for a longer rise

I make medium long soakers for my daughter. She doesn't need a large, but the medium wasn't quite high enough in the back. Here's how to alter the pattern to get a higher rise. Cut the patter in the size you like except don't stop at the waist that comes with that size. Instead, keep cutting upward along the side seam until you get to the line that goes with the next size up. Here are some pics for making a medium long.

how much do you have to alter the leg lengths with this?

I haven't altered the leg lengths personally, so I can't say.

Hi!

cute and easy pattern..thank you!!..but maybe my baby has a big booty....it doesnt seem to fit well. The waist would be too big if the bum fit. I put an extra bum section in, to give it more of a bubble butt fit, but it is still hard to pull up the waist over the bum. Any ideas? :)

Using the stretchiest fleece or wool for the waistband is the only thing that will help there. I've been playing with the pattern a bit, too. I've been using the large with in the back, but sticking with the medium width in the front. It works well for fleece that way. I still have to have some really stretchy fleece for the waist and legs, or I have trouble pulling it on.

Thanks for sharing the pattern. I've done one but i guess my pattern doesnt look as great. i'll try to make another with your pattern. I've used thick quality fleece for the waistband and legs band, it works great.

I followed the XL pattern using Malden Mills Windpro Fleece. Windpro is thicker than many other fleeces and probably less stretchy. It is wonderfully waterproof though!

However using this thicker and slightly less stretchy fleece I've ended up with not nearly enough hip room to go over a day time diaper let alone a night time diaper which is what I was going for.

I just thought I'd share this info as it does alter what one might be able to produce.

I'll be trying again after adding 2" to the sides and waist band and 1" to the thigh openings.

I used the larger size in the back and not in the front, works well if you cut the fleece in the right direction. Same thing with the band and legs. Make sure you test/pull on the fabric first to know which way to cut...Learned that one the hard way : \

When I do this with the size small, then attempt to sew the sides together, they no longer line up! I end up having the back jump higher up then the front.....
