Here's my first attempt at an extra layer you can sew into the wetzone. I tried to make sure you would have enough room to sew it into the body layer before sewing the rest of the soaker together and still not catch it in the seams.

I did this the first time I made your pattern, and just traced one of my mama pads for the hour glass shape. It's worked great!
That's a great idea. I got some requests for an extra layer pattern, so I drafted this one.
Hi... Could you tell me what size I should cut out for a 20-25 pounder? And is it ok to put a layer of PUL and fleece for the extra soaker?
Thanks so much
Hi... I'd like to know exactly what to use as the fabric for the extra layer for the wet zone? Do I put a layer of PUL or just another layer of Fleece?
Any help woul be great!!!
Thanks so much for this pattern... U ROCK!!!
Kim, my 24 lb 2 year old wears a medium long. I would go with that or a large for a 20 - 25 pounder. If the baby is long and lean, go with the medium long. If the child is shorter, go with the large. I generally go by measurements rather than weight. :)
Also, I use another piece of fleece for the extra wetzone layer.
Hi Katrina!
Question from a newbie :)
Which side of the extra layer is sewn down to the main soaker body?
Is it wrong side of extra to wrong side of soaker? Or right side of extra to wrong side of soaker?
I used microfleece for my first trial soaker, and sewed the right side to the wrong side of soaker. But when I tested with a couple drops of water, it looked like it absorbed the fluid. Maybe I shouldn't have used microfleece {:)
It shouldn't matter which side of the extra layer is out. I think that it was more likely the microfleece that was responsible for the wicking.
what goes under these? They are soooo cute. Thanks for sharing. Our grandson is almost 13 months old. I made him some AIO diapers but he has out grown them. Do you also have cloth diapers under these?
Thanks, Teretta
